The Packing Stage

Going to Njinikom, Cameroon.

I'm not sure what the internet connection will be like so I'll try to post as often as possible.

I've packed most everything..
capri's, pants, jeans, athletic shorts
tee shirts, couple sweatshirts, rain coat
lots of undies, a couple socks
tennis shoes, flip flops and keens
computer, cameras, kindle
some little mini toilet papers, hand sanitizers..

Wednesday I drive to Seattle, Thursday we leave from SeaTac and head to Detroit then Paris and by this time it's Friday so we fly from Paris to Douala, Cameroon. We are meeting a nun named Rose and she will help us through baggage claim.. a friend of Josselyn's told us this advice about Douala:
"Just a warning, arriving into Douala is crazy. You really need to keep all your eyes and all your hands on your stuff.  I hope someone is meeting you up at the airport - make sure you know that person's name and ask anyone who says they know you what your name is and some other detail that only someone who is authorized to pick you up would know.  Unofficial taxi drivers sometimes try and convince you that they are your ride. I am not trying to scare you at all - we have not had anything bad happen to us - just want to make sure you keep your eyes open.
Douala during the day will likely hit 95-100F and will be very humid."

We stay the night in Douala and ride to Njinikom on Saturday. I'll probably be jet-lagged and smelly due to massive travel time (basically 4 days worth).

Before leaving I have a little list to remember:
kindle, chargers, back up my computer
and a probability test on Wednesday morning.. for my independent study class.. the only class I have this semester.

Anyways.. I'm not really sure what to expect in Njinikom... the weather is fairly mild possibly rainy, possibly not it's the end of the dry season, beginning of rainy so could be either. It's a mountainous region so cool nights (50-60 F) and warmer days (75-80F).

Please feel free to email me if you have questions or suggestions of elaboration.. i do like to describe food. I'm bringing my own snacks cause who knows with my iffy stomach what I'll have on hand if I'm not feeling so well. I brought some granola bars, quacker oats cereal (to snack on), trail mix and instant oatmeal (assuming I have a stove and water). Obviously I'll describe everything as it happens later. Oh and I have gum.. of course gum.

Oh and my email is reillyhourigan12@gmail.com .. also possible and probable facebook updates and photos. I'll try to include photos on here too! I did it once with the Austria trip blog but this is all newly formatted.
